Maryland posts youth goat champs
TIMONIUM Top honors in the
4-H and FFA dairy goat show at
the recent Maryland State Fair
were scattered throughout central
Maryland and the state’s northern
tier of counties.
Linda Mack, 17, of Darlington,
Harford County won senior and
Grand Champion honors in the
fitting and showing competition.

Keri’s brother, James Gelhard,
12, exhibited the best-doe-in-show
in the breeding classes. His grand
champion animal was a recorded
grade Alpine milking yearling.
Phil DeLaney captured most of
the top honors in the Toggenburg
breed classes, including the Senior
and Grand championship ribbons.

County exhibited the Junior
Champion Toggenburg, which went
on to be named Junior Champion
among all breeds in the show. She
also had the Senior and Grand
Champion Nubian doe.
Patty Grossman, 16, of Mon
tgomery County exhibited both the
Junior and Senior champions, as
well as the Grand Champion doe,
in the Alpine breed classes.
Baltimore County 4-H’er Jackie Taylor, 17 sets her Junior
Champion over all breeds, yearling Skyline Ivan's Rogue
following her win at the recent Maryland State Pair. In ad
dition, Taylor collected both Senior and Grand Champion
Nubian doe honors in the 4-H and FFA competition.
