Jersey sale (Continued from Page A 22) was Vantage Pride Aster, con signed by Don and Angie Koontz of Fredonia, which was purchased for $1,525 by James Clark of Enon Valley. In discussing his purchase Jim said, “I know that is a lot to pay for a calf, but I have her maternal sister at home.” This maternal sister is projected at 14,292 pounds milk as a 2 year old and was purchased at the Pot of Gold sale two years ago. “Aster” will go home to join Jim’s herd of 15 Jerseys. The six heifers offered in the Pot of Gold sale averaged $879 while the forty-one cows offered for sale averaged $1,335. Another highlight of the annual sale was the purchase of a bull, Smokey Hill Saint Jeff, by a syndicate of Pennsylvania Jersey Breeders for $3,600. All proceeds of this sale go toward the 1985 Annual American Jersey Cattle Club meeting and sale to be held in 'Pennsylvania. Roy Watson of Columbia Cross Roads donated the outstanding son of Favorite Saint who is out of an excellent Quicksilver dam.
