A2o—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, August 28,1982 Dyarman Holstein entry gets winning nod BYJOYCE BUPP Staff Correspondent HARRISBURG A three-year old Quality Ultimate daughter captured Senior and Grand Champion honors on Tuesday for exhibitor Rebecca Dyarman, R 1 Shippensburg, in the Holstein Division of die South Central 4-H District Dairy Show. Dyar-Acres Lorri Quality, scored VG-85, won the nod from judge Obie Snider of Imler, with her “dairyness extremely deep body and quality udder. Bred by Randy Dyarman, she’s from an Astronaut dam, and made a 2- year-old lactation record of over 14,000 pounds. Calving out for the second time, she underwent displaced abomasum surgery, and is still predicted to finish with more than 12,000 pounds milk in the Paul Dyarman herd. Taking the Reserve Senior and Grand honors was John Stamy IV, R 2 Mechanicsburg, with Manor- Grove Jake Heidi, an aged cow sired by Huntsdale Jake Black Eagle, and bred by Mr. and Mrs. John Stamy, 111 at their Manor- Grove farm. Bridgette’s Boyer’s tall, sharp, and very dairy intermediate calf, topped all Heifer contenders for the honors in the black and white Junior Division. The calf is by Sexation, and the 4-H’er from her first 4-H project animal. Bridgette Colored breeds breed honors. Grand Champion was Doug’s "Top-O-HiJl Milestone Faithful,” a three year old bred by Mildred Seeds of Downington. She also won the Franklin County Round-up, and has continued to milk 50-pounds daily through the show season. Tina’s Reserve Senior and Grand winner is a senior 2 year old bred by Ruperts Jerseys of Ohio. Doug and Tina are the children of Mr, and Mrs. Lester Martin, Guilford Springs Hoad, Cham bersburg. Two Lancaster brothers took home the Junior Jersey honors with homebred calves from their Feach Bottom herd. Matt Arrowsmith’s senior calf by Vaucluse Ben Casey topped Tom Arrowsmith’s entry in the same class for the Junior championship. William Gloss’s step into the Senior and Grand championship with his Brown Swiss two year old was a repeat of the earlier Franklin County Round-up. The winning young cow is Swissvale Success Helen, sired by Blessing Favanne Success, and bred by Harlow Drown of Ohio. She’s currently milking 68 pounds, with a 4.2 percent test. Gloss is the son ot Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gloss, AUeman Hoad, Chambersburg. Judges John Marchezak, Bentleyville, and Obie Snyder, Imler, handled the type placings in the side-by-side show rings while Jane Fepple, Oxford, and Cindy Waltemyer, Collegeville, scored fitting and showing competition. Guernsey Senior and Grand ribbons went to Douglas Layman, Waynesboro, with his four-year-old Hoovervilie Winstone Janice, sired by Eber Lea Farms Winston. The Franklin County winning animal was bred by the 4-H’ers parents, Mr. and Mrs. David I-ayman. Layman also won the Reserve Junior championship with a senior yearling heifer. Reseve Senior and Grand rosettes went to Todd Rutter, York, with a four year old sired by Fen Del Maverick Nelson. Brother Chad Rutter topped the Junior Division, taking the heifer championship with his senior calf. The youngsters are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Rutter, York. Two families split the four top awards in the Jersey division. In tiie county herd competition, Franklin was first, over Cum berland, York in third, Lebanon in fourth, Lancaster in fifth and Adams in sixth.
