In an effort to instill food appreciation into
the minds of city youths, the county 4-H
program recently took 26 4-H’ers from two
clubs to several food processing and producing
sites. At a Pensupreme stop, the youths learned
how milk and ice cream is handled and tested
before being served to the public. At the
Norman Kolb farm, above, 4-H’ers had a
chance to petjand feed calves and tour a dairy

Burger King. According to Mary Kay Miller,
Summer assistant at the county 4-H office, “All
of these have been added extra to the summer
EFNEP program. It has helped the children to
become more aware of how food arrives on our
plates. Hopefully it will make the 4-H’ers more
appreciative of the food they eat.

CARLISLE The Cumberland
County 4-H Horse and Pony Clubs
held their 4-H round-up last
Saturday.
The show was held for members
to complete their 1982 4-H project
year and choose winners for the
District Show to be held in Lan
caster County, August 28. The first
three places in each class go to the
District Event. Linda Albers of
Maryland judged the show.

per ton of feed will furnish your layers with the
supplemental calcium needed for strong eggshells.

limestone as large particle calcium supplements.

amount of feed required per dozen eggs.
