Montgomery Co. slates 4-H fair
NORRISTOWN - Where can
sheep, goats, rabbits, dairy cows
and other animals be found with
vegetables, flowers and clothing?
Why, only at the Montgomery
County 4-H Fair being held August
18 to August 21 on the grounds of
the 4-H Center, Snyder Road,
Lansdale.
County Agent Paul Reber states
that 4-H members throughout the
county will be exhibiting their
projects for the public starting
with the 4-H Dairy Show at 10:30
a.m. on Wednesday, August 18. See
if you can pick the winning animals
that will compete at the regional
show later in the month.
Then come back to watch the 4-H
Sheep club members at 6 p.m. on
Thursday, August 19 show their
animals to the judge. At 7 pjn. the
horse ring will be very active with
horse grooming and showmanship
activities.
Be prepared that evening to
move out of the way as 4-H’ers
bring steers, goats, rabbits and
cavies for their own shows during
the next two days. At the same

filling up with crafts, food entries,
vegetables, flowers, woodworking,
rockets, models and other projects
which can be seen by everyone on
Friday, August 20 between the
hours of 4to9pjn.
However, if you enjoy watching
meat on the hoof check out the 4-H
Steer Show at 2 p.m. that day
under the big tent. And do not
forget the 4-H Dog Show at 7 p.m.
or the Seeing Eye Puppy
demonstration at 7:30 p.m. on that
Friday.
Laugh at the large animal dress
up contest for 4-H members only at
8 pm and pick your favorite
during the parade of club banners
at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, August 21 opens with
the 4-H Goat Show at 9:30 a.m. and
the 4-H Rabbit and Cavy Show at 10
a.m. If you have not viewed the
projects in the building 1 p.m. to 8
p.m. is the time. Do not overlook
the imagination of youth at 2 p.m.
as they parade their special friend
in the small pet contest. Prizes

at 3:30 p.m. while model rockets
are sent skyward, weather -per
mitting, around 4:30 p.m.
A puppet show and horse
costume contest at 7 p.m. conclude
the 1382 ,4-H Fair. For all of these
events, there is no admission
charge. Food and beverages are
available on the grounds. Special
baked goods are being offered for
sale on Friday and Saturday.
The 4-H dub program is offered
by the Cooperative Extension
Service of Penn State University.

Holly Webb is Delaware’s
NEWARK, Del. - Holly Webb, 17,
of Wyoming, is Delaware’s 1382-83
dairy princess. Her crowning was
(me of the highlights of the recent
Delaware State Fair.
Holly, daughter of Verona and
Milboume Webb Jr., lives on her
parents dairy farm.
The new princess is a senior at
Caesar Rodney High School, where
she’s a member of Future Far
mers of America, the National
Honor Society and the school band.

She also belongs to 4-H, She plans
to study agriculture in college.
Alternate princess is 4-H
member Rene Bryk, of Smyrna,
the daughter of Fat and Stan Bryk.
The new princess will make
personal appearances on behalf of
the dairy industry throughout the
year. She’ll speak to school groups,
service elute and others about
dairy production and the
nutritionalrvalue of milk.
