Susan owns three Guernseys which
she has combined with the herd of
nearly 100 head of Holsteins owned
by her husband Jeff, after their
July 3 marriage.
The 4-H Champion Guernsey was
an intermediate calf exhibited by
Stacy Habecker, daughter of Mark
and Darlene Habecker of Annville.
This Telestar daughter was bred
by Jacob N. Smith and Son of
Annville.
The Dale Maulfair family of
Jonestown topped the open Ayr
shire show with their aged dry
cow. “Pepper” also placed second
in Farm Show competition this
year and produced 15,100 pounds of
milk her last lactation. Gary farms
230 acres with his father Paul
owning a herd which is half
Holstein and half Ayrshire.
Heather Hernley of Northern
Lebanon High School exhibited six
of the eight Ayrslures, and won
Reserve Champion honors of the
open show and Champion and
Reserve Champion honors of both
the 4-H and FFA shows. Heather’s
top cow “Valerie” was also
Reserve Grand Champion of the
1981 Farm Show and P ennsylvama
Junior Show, as well as second
place 2-year-old in the 1981 P A All-
American.
