LANCASTER Will Lancaster hog prices break the magic $70.00 barrier this week? Well, there's speculation that they may just do that for the first time this week after nudging the 70.00 mark and setting a new price record last Saturday. A few U.S. #Ts sold for $68.00- $69.00 a hundredweight on Saturday, topping the old high of 68.00 at the Stockyards. Although prices didn’t reach that level during the week at the various Lancaster County auc tions, they held firm in the mid 60’s. This firmness gave rise to speculation that the $70.00 barrier may finally be broken. In all, 1070 head were sold last Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Stockyards. The report as listed by the auction includes: U.S. #l, 210-235 lbs. 65.00-67.50; some from 68.00-69.00. U.S. 1 & 2,210-245 lbs. 64.00-64.85. U.S. 2 & 3,210-255 lbs. 63.50-64.50.
