D2B—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, August 14,1982 Local dairy farmers will sample UHT milk BALTIMORE, Md. - Members of the Middle Atlantic Division of Dairymen, Inc. will get the opportunity to taste UHT, the new long shelf life milk, at their district meetings beginning August 11. The UHT plant in Hancock enters Chester White in nat’l barrow show AUSTIN, Mn. - Doug Hancock, Honey Grove, Juniata County has entered a Chester White barrow in the 1982 National Barrow Show Production tested Barrow Contest. The barrow was delivered to the National Barrow Show Testing Station at New Ulm, Minnesota, and will be fed out along with 780 other barrows from across the United States and Canada. The barrows will be taken off test as they reach 220 pounds live weight and the carcasses will be evaluated at Geo. A. Hormel & Company’s Meat Packing Plant in Austin, Minnesota. The final results will be announced and the winners will be honored at the National Barrow Show held in Austin, Minnesota, Sept. 13-15. The National Barrow Show is an all breed event which attracts hogs from throughout the United States and visitors from many foreign countries. In addition to cham pionship barrows, the National Barrow Show also features judging of the nation’s finest breeding stock which represent the major purebred breeds of hogs in the United States. By submitting his entry, Doug Hancock a producer of purebred breeding stock, has indicated his intentions to place his hogs in competition in the 1982 Show.
