LANCASTER Hot weather
can be difficult for dogs and cats.
To avoid sunburn and more
seriously, heat stroke, give your
pet a cool, shady spot and plenty of
fresh water.
Exercise your pet in the early

Meckley says it is not a good idea
to give a dog or cat a shorter-than
normal summertime haircut, since
an animal’s coat insulates against
the heat *as well as. the cold.
Animals normally shed during hot
weather, so regular brushing
keeps them well groomed and also
helps you spot fleas and ticks.
Keep your animals comfortable
and healthy this summer by
paying attention to their special
summertime needs.
