Marlene will receive an expense paid trip to the National 4-H Congress. Support of the leadership program is provided by Readers Digest. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Martz, Marlene is a student at the Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing. She has been a 4-H member for 10 years. A member of the East Smithfield Flyers 4-H Club and the East Smithfield Dairy Club, she has served as president, secretary, treasurer, news reporter, and song and game leader. The state leadership winner has completed 4-H projects in health, dairy, pet care, leadership, clothing, crafts, beef production, horse and pony, veterinary science, automotive, nutrition, handyman, bicycle safety, photography, recreation, and babysitting. Centre Co. youth wins clothing award UNIVERSITY PARK - Debbie Daum, 17, of 309 Madsion Street, State College, has been named a state winner for her clothing project in the 1982 4-H National Awards Program. She will be eligible to attend the National 4-H Congress in Chicago, November 28 to December 2. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Daum, Debbie will be a senior this fall at State College Area High School. She has been a 4- H member for nine years. A member of the Happy Valley 4- H Club, she has served as president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and news reporter. She also assists as a teen leader for clothing and food projects. Debbie completed 4-H projects in clothing, crocheting, foods, flower and vegetable gardening, home management, crafts, and leadership. Northampton UNIVERSITY PARK - Gwen Hower, 19, of R 1, Northampton, was named state citizenship winner recently in the 1982 4-H National Awards Program. She will receive an expense-paid trip to the National 4-H Congress. Support of the citizenship project is provided by the Coca-Cola Company and Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Corporation. Gwen Hower state awards UNIVERSITY PARK - Two Chester County young adults, who have compiled outstanding records in 4-H work, were named state contest winners in the 1982 4-H National Awards Program. Named were Elizabeth Colket, 16, of McAvoy Lane, Phoenixville, state winner in dog care and training and Elizabeth Wollaston, 18, of Maple Lawn Farm, Toughkenamon, state winner in personal development. Both are eligible to attend National 4-H Congress in Chicago, November 28 to December 2. LOLLY LONG The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Long, Lolly will be a freshman at Penn State this fall, majoring in agriculture. She has been a 4-H member for 11 years. She said: “I feel 4-H has made me a better person by increasing my self-confidence and by helping me handle various situations with a more open mind.” Rusty has completed 4-H projects in entomology, geology, forestry, rocketry, veal produc tion, swine, dairy, physical fitness, citizenship, square dance, leadership, and weather.
