VMD” column. The new
veterinarian who will be an
swering tanners’ animal health
questions is Donald L. Yorlels,
VMD. He relaen Dr. Synthea
Maas and Dr. Tim Trayer.
A native Pennyslvanian, Dr.
Yorlets hails from a Cumberland
County dairy tarm. His parents,
John C. and Dorothy S. Yorlets,
continue to milk 45 head ol
Holsteins on their 250-acre tarm
near Mechamcsburg.
Yorlets, who is single and
currently resides near Hershey,
has been working with the Valley
Animal Hospital veterinary stall
since last June. He was a May 1981
graduate ot the University ol
Pennsylvania School ot Veterinary
Medicine, New Bolton Center

Yorlets joins VMD writers
During his veterinary school
years, Yorlels says he placed
major emphasis on animal
nutrition and reproduction. His
specialty, he says, is dairy cattle,
although he also enjoys his horse
and small animal clientele.
Recently, Dr, Yorlets says he's
been seeing an increasing number
ol cows suttering from mastitis.
This, he explains, is due to the
rainy weather and muddy bar
nyards. To avoid continued cases
ot mastitis, Yorlets recommends
keeping the cows as clean and dry
as possible.
During his "tree" tune, Yorlels
says he enjoys playing racquet
ball, fishing and hunting. With a
laugh, he admits, "1 like them
more than 1 do them. ”
