Junior Conservation
Camp scheduled
HARRISBURG - The Dauphin
County Federation of Sportsmen’s
Clubs recently announced plans for
the 1982 Junior Conservation Camp
which will be held at Camp
Shikelluny from June 13-19. Ac
cording to Joel Myers, secretary
for the Sportsmen’s Clubs, this
year’s camp will provide a unique
experience for youth between 13
and 16 to participate m actual
conservation measures. The camp
is co-educational.
Myers explained that the camp
is being carried out in cooperation
with the PA Game Commission as
well as other resource agencies
including the Bureau of Forestry,
PA Fish Commission, U.S.D.A.,
Soil Conservation Service, and the
Dauphin County Conservation
District. Actual practices on work
to be done will include timber

Myers continued by indicating
that this year’s camp will cost only
$75 for a full week, including meals
and lodging. Many sportsmen’s
clubs, service clubs and others will
sponsor or partially sponsor
students. Anyone interested m
sponsoring a student or interested
m attending the camp should
contact the camp director, Robert
Megonnell at 921-2682 or the
Federation secretary, Joel Myers
at 652-7035 (day) or 921-8775
(evenings). Entries should be
submitted by May 31. Attendance
is limited to 50 students.
