Kennard Dale FFA presents awards at banquet

FAWN GROVE - Kennard Dale
chapter of the Furture Farmers of
America opened their annual
banquet Tuesday, April 6, with
turkey and all the trimmings,
wrapped it up with hypnotist
Robert Bowers, and in between
honored members and special
guests at a program brimming
with awards.
Top surprise awards for FFA
chapter accomplishments went to
Greg Fantom, named Kennard-
Dale Star Farmer, Star Agn
busmessman Mark Flaharty, and
president Ben Hushon who won the
Dekalb outstanding senior award.
Star Greenhand honors went to a
pair of freshmen, FFA’ers Shane
Clements and Jon Hash.
Over a dozen members earned
chapter foundation awards,
provided by the national FFA
honorary Chapter Farmer degree to program boosters
Nor ' Warner and Josi H
organization. They were Clay
Miller, ag mechanics; Penny
Bowser, ag sales and service;
Brian Eckersley, beef production,
Todd Warner, crop production;
Greg Fantom, dairy production,
Sheri Johnson, diversified
livestock production, Jim Burkins,
fruit and vegetable production,
Randy Sizemore, fish and wildlife
management
Also, Todd Warner, poultry,
Theresa Smith, horse proficiency,
Bill Wilson, placement in ag
processing; John Knck; Ron
Wilson, swine production; and
Brian Zimmerman, soil and water
management.
Todd Warner received the
Production Credit award,
presented to the chapter member
maintaining outstanding farm
record books. Farm Credit
representative Jim Sigler made

Top salesmen in three categories
were recognized. Shane Clements
was high seller ot seeds, followed
by Todd Warner and Jon Hash.
Outselling all other members in
citrus was Ron Wilson, topping
runner-up Ben Hushon and third
place Jim Godfrey. Best flower
bulb salesman honors went to
Chuck Miller, followed by Marvin
Van Hart and Scott Heaps.
Several competitors in team
judging at state FFA week earned
awards. Members ot the

Heidi vonLange took a top gold
award in dairy, and Greg Fantom
an honorable mention m dairy
judging. Small engine contest
winners Brian Eckersley and Jim
Godfrey took a bronze at state
competition, and Brian Zim
merman was recognized as a
delegate

Fantom was recognized as a state
Keystone winner. Todd Warner
Clements, Star Greenhand; Greg Fantom, Star
Farmer; Mark Flaharty, Star Agribusinessman;
and Jon Hash, Star Greenhand.
was named star winner m White
Rose awards, and other White
Rose degrees went to David Clegg,
Brian Eckersley, Jim Godfrey,
Kevin McFatndge, Theresa Smith,
Mark Vaught, and Ron Wilson.
Theresa Smith took gold honors
in the state project book com
petition. Silver awards went to
Scott Dickson, Shane Clements,
Craig Miller, Todd Warner and
Ron Wilson, and Clay Miller
earned a bronze medal.
Even vo-ag instructors David
Allen and Ralph Travis received
surprise awards. Members ot the
state teams they coached to suc
cess presented the teachers with
gilts of appreciation.
