WASHINGTON, D.C. - Shorn
wool production in the United
States during 1981 was 110 million
pounds, up 4 percent from 1980,
according to th Crop Reporting
Board. The 1981 total wool
production of 111 million pounds
included 1.15 million pounds of
pulled wool.
Sheep and lambs shorn in 1981, at
13.5 million head, increased 2
percent from the previous year.
Average fleece weight of shorn
wool was 8.14 pounds, up 0.19
