One ot the best ways to conserve soil is strip cropping, says David Hoffman, soil con servation technician. Strips alternate corn or a cultivated crop with a close-growing crop such as hay. They are generally 100 to 120 feet wide and slow down water running over a plowed surface to minimize erosion. Any landowners in terested in having assistance on establishing strips on their farm should contact their local Soil Conservation Service office.
