put a jingle in your pocket and win
you fame if you enter the 1982
Pennsylvania Beef Cook-Off
Contest, according to Agriculture
Secretary Penrose Hallowed.
The cook-off contest, to be held
at the Trinity High School in
Shiremanstown on June 10, is open
to all residents of Pennsylvania 18
years or older, who do not have
professional cooking status.
“This is an excellent opportunity
for Pennsylvanians to show off
their original recipes and be
rewarded for their creativity,”
Hallowed said.
Entries must be submitted by
May 15. Finalists, selected by a
panel of judges, will compete on
June 10. Contestants for the final
competition wid be selected on the
basis of originadty, 20 points;
taste, 40 points; ease of
preparation and practicably, 20
points; and appearance, 20 points.
A minimum of six finalists will
be selected to prepare their entries
from the recipes submitted. First
prize is $125, second prize is $6O,
third and fourth prizes are $3O
each. The state winner will be
eligible to compete in the national
cook-off contest to be held in
September m San Antonio, Texas.
Each contestant may submit one
original beef recipe using beef
chuck, round, rump, fresh brisket
PA beef cook-off scheduled

dish must contain a minimiim of
two and not more than uve pounds
of beef. The meat must be ex
clusively beef and can only be from
the above cuts.
Total cooking time may not
exceed four hours, not including
