Al2—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, (March 20,1982 OUR READERS WRITE, AND OTHER OPINIONS You put out a great rural publication and I guess we take this for granted and never write to tell you this. Editors usually only hear from readers when they have a complaint. In your February 27th issue on page D-6, your heading says “Co op speak out for Milkerendum” and you include PFA in your Mild milk ribbing I am writing in regard to an article on alfalfa management published in the February 13, 1982 edition of Lancaster Farming The article was based on a presentation I made at the Penn sylvania Forage and Grassland Council Annual Meeting in November and was well wntten There was, however, a typographical error in the third paragraph which has brought me some good-natured ribbing horn around the state The first sentence should have Equine Council meets LANSDALE The Montgomery County Equine Council will hold a general meeting on Tuesday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. here at the 4- H Center, Snyder Road, Lansdale. Speakers for the evening will be Rita Banning, County Com missioner, Robert Rothenberger, Director, County Parks and there will be a representative from the | AMERICAS I cpiw "Simplicity of the NU-PULSE Milker Impressed Us" Roe 6 Mary Russel Ro-Dale Farms, Rome, Pa. S'" .vs3i-5* li■ P i “We weren't happy with the milkers we were using and the simplicity of the Nu-Pulse milker impressed us very much. Therefore, in 1979 we changed our milker system to the Nu-Pulse milkers. Because of the simplicity, we've needed very little service from our dealer over the past 3 years." “With the Nu-Pulse milker, we’ve noticed the udders are softer & there has been no problems with teat ends. Among our herd of 102 cows we have very little mastitis. Our S.C.C. was 600,000 to 800,000 before we had the Nu-Pulse milkers. Now it is down to 350,000. Our herd average is 17.215 M 700 F. We had a lot of problems before with our milkers falling off, but with the Nu-Pulse milkers that hasn't been a problem at ail. We were told how good the Nu-Pulse milker is and we’ve found it to be that and more. We have strongly encouraged other dairymen to use Nu-Pulse milkers." It would have been well if the Grange and Pennsylvania Far mers Union viewpoints would have been included also. Keep up the good work. read “Spring growth is rapid because of mild temperatures and ample moisture”. The word “milk” appearing in the original article has brought me mail inquiring as to the proper tem perature of the milk at application time, as well as more information on application rates. Unfortunately, this article should not be the inspiration of new market development activities by the dairy industry in the state. William C. Stringer Assistant Professor of Crop Management Penn State county planning commission. They will discuss the recent acquisition of 1,000 acres by the county. This tract of land is located around the Perkiomen Creek and Reservoir m the Green Lane area and plans call for it to be a county park. There are trails now on this acreage which could be designated as bridle paths. JAMES LUCKENRILL RD2 Montgomery PA 17752 717 547 1516 MONTI IMBIA. LUZERNE CO c Carl L.
