The meeting offers breeders a chance to enjoy a well-earned vacation, exchange ideas and reminisce about the 1981 show season. At least two breeders will be celebrating the recent news of their All-American picks out of five Pennsylvania nominees. „ The Arthur Baxters of Stoneboro just got word that their junior heifer calf, Garden-Acres P Penny received an All-American Honorable Mention. And the only Pennsylvania bull nominated, Gor- Wood-D Elevation Rocky-ET, owned by Gordon and Dorothy Wood, Mansfield, finished with High Honorable Mention. Three other breeders were in the running. Cmda Oakes, Cochranton, a Holstein Junior member, had an intermediate calf, Vel-Rus Elevation Boots Lovely m the All- American pnd Junior,, All- American competition. The. Lovely calf earned a Junior AA High Honorable Mention. In addition, Oakes’ second Junior AA nominee, Vel-Rus Marvex Penstate Maria, received Junior AA Honorable Mention. Star Bright Uoistems, Bath, had an AA nomination in their top 4- year-old, James Hill Elevation Betsy and , Bradford County breeders, Lynn and Bonnie Miller were, nominated for their junior yearling heifer, Apache Royal Hentage-ET. In addition to tile AA recognition, Baxter’s Penny heifer, a Pete daughter earned All-Pennsylvania honors along with another Baxter heifer, Garden Acres Goldyvale. The dams of both heifers, are by a homebred bull, Garden Acres Trade Mark. The bull is by Elm croft Pontiac Chieftain Son out of a 93 point Marquis. The dam of the Penny heifer, Garden Acres Donna, a Very Good 88, boasts a top record of 26,567 pounds of milk and 918 pounds of fat for a 347 day lactation as a 4-year-old. The Trade Mark bull has a great influence m the Baxter herd with five milking daughters. Four of them are Very • Good and one NJ. Holstein breeders plan spring forum FLEMINGTON, N.J. - The annual "Spring Forum,” con ducted by the New Jersey Holstein Association for its members and all other mterested dairymen, will be held on Tuesday, March 2, at the Andover Firehouse, Kt. 206, An dover. Speaker will be Dr. Jim Jarrett, DVM and noted writer for Hoards’ Central Jersey Holstein club names officers FLEMINGTON, N.J. ~ Bernard Beatty, Bethlehem Township, was elected president of the Central Jersey Holstein Association at a recent meeting of the board of directors. Beatty succeeded Mark Douglass, Pittstown, N.J., in the leadership of the 95-member organization. A life-long resident of Hun- Rogers, Raritan Township; terdon, N.J. Beatty was bom and William Teets, Clinton Township; raised on the family farm located and Howard J. Sutton, Tewksbury, on the West Portal-Asbury Road. Rocky’s dam,C Kasgar Roberta Rockman, 3E 94 finished her lifetime production with 179,509 pounds of milk and 6,068 pounds of fat. She made her best record of 27,132 pounds of milk and pounds of fat, as a 12-year-old on 365 days. In her lifetime', the Tioga County brood cow has produced one High Honorable Mention AA, one Honorable. Mention AA, One Honorable Mention All-Canada 2- year-old. She was twice named All- Pennsylvania Dam and Daughter with two different daughters. All ot her scored offspring have classified no less than 86, with two scoring Excellent. The Woods maintain a rolling herd average of 17,868 pounds of milk and 637 pounds of fat on 122 cows. The AA nominee of Crawford County Junior Cmda Oakes, Vel- Rus Elevation Boots Lovely is a Sweet-Haven Lochinvar Boots daughter out of a Very" Good, Kmgway Elevation Very. The fancy calf earned Junior All- Pennsylvania intermediate Calf honors. Towanda breeders, Lynn and Bonnie Miller’s AA nominee, Apache Royal Hentage-ET, is'an Elevation daughter out of Royal Haven Brett Sherry, Ex 95, picked as AA 4-year-old in 1978. The junior yearling is due m July to Valiant. James Hill Elevation Betsy, the AA nominee of Star Bright Holstems, is by Elevation out of James Hill Paclamar Betty-Twin. Currently bred to Carhn M. Ivanhoe Bell, the Star Bnght nominee carries a top record of 24,008 pounds of milk and 868 pounds of fat on 365 days.
