D3o—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, February 6,1982 Angus bulls command $5,813 average intermediate spot with Sir Williams Altluence 8088, and Vanlek Angus ot Geddes, South Dakota, bought him tor $4,250, Gunston Tall Texan, senior call champ consigned by Gunston West 6t Lampasas, Texas, brought a $12,500 bid tor two-thirds interest DENVER, Co. - The 1982 National Western Angus Bull Sale chalked up a solid $5,813 average on 58 bulls sold, and the top-selling bull commanded $77,500 for two thirds interest and full possession, reports Bill Roche, manager of the sale for the American Angus Association. The top-seller was Liberty Patriot 1, senior and grand champion of the sale bull show held two days before the sale. He was consigned by Harold E. Young Jr. of Somerset, Virginia, and Sugar Loaf Farms of Panama, Oklahoma, and sold to Deep Down Ranch, Paluxy, Texas. Two bulls earned $20,000 bids. Intermediate champion Supreme Advancer, consigned by Doug Davis of Big Island, Virginia, sold Bradford TOWANDA - The Bradford County Forest Landowners Associati on met recently and discussed the recent change and impact of the change of the use value for taxation of forest land. Representatives were selected to meet with other agricultural groups to discuss this situation. The Association also decided to assist in the promotion of Arbor Day programs m the county, cooperating with other agencies, schools, etc. President Jim Van- Noy announced a new service to members of the Association. The Bradford County Forest Landowners Associati on has received eligibility from the Surplus Federal Property Division (.located in Harrisburg) for members to receive the loan of Federal Surplus items for only a modest service fee. VanNoy named the various items available and the method of procurement for members of the organization. Dale Putnam of Troy, Jeff Block ot Towanda, and Jim VanNoy of Canton, were appointed to authorize loans ot these items. The possible tor mation of an Endless Mountains Forest Landowners Associati on soon and the possible employment of a forester to assist with and carry out programs tor forest landowners was brought to the at tention of members by President VanNoy. May 18 was selected as the date of the first 1982 Woodlot Tour. The site was selected by Max Dewing of Warren Center, a director of the organization. The owner has participated in Umber stand im provement programs and has received a number of awards lor his outstanding con servation practices on approximately 160 acres of woodland. Secretary-Treasurer Janice Schlagel 1 reported that the organization has in creased its membership and is still receiving requests tor mem- to Monatana breeders Sitz Angus Ranch ot Harrison, Basin Angus Ranch ot Moccasin, and Stevenson Angus Ranch ot Hobson.
