Meanwhile, Farm Show visitors
continued to pour into the dairy
section where England Farms H
Mill battled a life and death
situation.
“I didn’t even know there was
anybody around last year,” said
Elsie. “I was just so consumed
with the cow's condition.”
Finally, the vet arrived and
- treated Mill, and told Elsie that
had he arrived five minutes later,
she would have had a dead cow.
But Lady Luck smiled on the
Wolffs and Mill that day. In fact,
she must have been grinning like
the Cheshire cat, because the
Clovelly Top Hornet daughter
collected a red ribbon the next day.
The remarkable cow went home,
classified Excellent 91, milked
17,456 pounds and 820 pounds of fat
and delivered a healthy heifer. She
is indeed a “real working cow.”
In other Guernsey competition,
Rutter Brothers of York exhibited
the reserve grand and reserve
senior champion, Shadow Lawn
Hoi Cissy. The 7-year-old dry cow

Haemophilus pleuropneumonia is a pneumonia
causing organism which kills with little advance
warning You will probably not recognize the first
signs of this disease usually nothing more
noticeable than hard-to-detect, shallow breathing
The first readily apparent indication of trouble is
likely to be unexplained deaths in a herd which
appeared to be perfectly healthy

To build the most efficient hutch on the
market, we’ve worked with the best veter
inarians and dairy scientists in the country.
And today, 10 major universities use
Fiberdome hutches, testing every inch
and giving us straight A’s.
That’s because each design detail is
there for a good reason. Extra-heavy re
inforced fiberglass, for rugged strength.
One-piece seamless construction, sloped
front-to-back, for self-ventilation. Univer
sity tested to be warmer in winter and
cooler in summer. Even a special weather
resistant coating to control bacteria.
