Montgomery honors
NORRISTOWN - The Mon
tgomery County Conservation
District recognized several in
dividuals for their consistent
achievements in soil conservation
at their December meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. Levi C. Alderfer,
who operate a 115-acre farm in
Franconia Township, have in
stalled considerable conservation
practices on their farm including
grassed waterways, terraces to
reduce sheet-type soil erosion from
10 to 2 tons per acre, and many
more practices. Alderfers received
the award for 1981 Outstanding
Conservation Farmer of Mon

Small game species which may
be hunted from December 26
through Saturday, January 9,
include pheasants of both sexes in
northern Pennsylvania, and cot
tontail rabbits, squirrels and
grouse statewide.
Daily and possession limits for
the small game species are;
pheasants, two and four; cottontail
rabbits, four and eight; squirrels,
six and twelve; and grouse, two
and four.
There will be a seven-day season
for hunting snowshoe rabbits
(varying hares), opening Satur
day, December 26, and closing
Saturday, January 2. The daily
limit on snowshoes is two, with a
season limit of four.
