completed its 53rd year with 95 whole-yeai herds on DHlAand
seven Owner-Sampler herds
The 6,300 cows on test in the county turned in averages ot
15,940 pounds ot milk and 606 pounds ol tat, averages which
have more than doubled since the county's testing piograms
began in 1929.
Raymond Diebold ol Altoona topped the county s milk
production with a high average ot 20,22/ pounds ot milk
Dawn Baker ot Martmsburg completed the year with the
highest butterfat average at 757 pounds ot tat
Rodney Meuier ot Martmsburg turned in the highest but
terlat production tor a single cow His 5 year-old grade
Holstein finished with 1,207 pounds ot tat on 24,8/3 po,unds
ot milk
An 8-year-old registered Holstein, owned by Blackcrest
Farms ot Altoona, completed the year with the high record in
milk production at 30,673 pounds ot milk
Blair County 4 H'er, Brian Kelly received a plaque tor his 6
year-old cow ' Ins" who tmished with 985 pounds ot tat on
19,690 pounds ot milk at 5 0 percent test
A 3-year-old cow owned by FFA member Kenneth Hoover
topped milk proudction in FFA competition Hoover’s
Arlmda ' finished at 19,849 pounds ot milk and 748 pounds
ottat

Association recently finished its 54th year with 22 whole ye;
herds. The county's 831 cows on test averaged 14,209 pounc
of milk and 539 pounds of tat.
Port Allegany dairyman, John H. Lapp led the county
production with 18i242 pounds of milk and 711 pounds of t;
Lapp's top averages werecompleted by 32 head of registeri
Holstems.
A 15-year-old Holstein, owned by Arthur and Clifford Brow
Port Allegany finished the year with the high lifetin
production in the county. "Phoebe” recorded 11 lactations
157,984 pounds of milk and 6,081 pounds of fat.
