Montour, Snyder, Union and Nor’d Co.
WOODBINE Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and
Union Counties completed the DHIA 1981 testing year with
160 herds on test The tour-county area included 8,566 cows
Montour County's 20 herds averaged 15,356 pounds of milk
and 593 pounds of fat Carl Slater & Son of Bloomsburg topped
Montour County in milk and tat witn averages of 21,136
pounds of milk and 7b7 pounds of fat
Northumberland County s 32 herds averaged 14,733
pounds of milk and 566 pounds of fat The top producers for
the county were Northumberland dairymen Fred and Tom
Strouse The Strouses completed the year with averages ot
18,747 pounds of milk and 754 pounds of tat
Snyder County producers turned in averaged ot 15,258
pounds of milk and 584 pounds of fat on 48 herds Selmsgrove
dairyman Glenn Moyer topped the county with 20 805 pounds
ot milk and 768 pounds of fat on 3 times a day milkings
Union County's 60 herds averaged 15,485 pounds of milk
and 573 pounds of fat Wood Ann Farm, Inc of Lewisburg led
the county with 20 495 pounds of milk and 768 pounds of tat,
also on 3 times a day milkings
Those herds averaging more than 600 pounds, of tat are
included m the following list.
