Chester Go. holds dairy banquet
WEST CHESTER - Chester
County held their annual 4-H Dairy
Awards Banquet at the Ridge Fire
Hall, recently, to honor all 4-H
dairy members for a successful
year of shows and competitions.
The coveted milk production
awards went to the following
members: Susan Kulp, Ayrshire;
Jeffrey Welsh, Guernsey; Bonnie
Lamborn, Holstein; Elizabeth
Wollaston, Jersey; Lois Mark,
mixed herd; and again to Nancy
Yarnall, for Holstein herd.
The Chester County 4-H Jersey
Achievement Award, donated by
Mildred Seeds and family, went to
Elizabeth Wollaston.
Blue form winner for the 1981
year was Nancy Yarnall.
Roy Malik, Chester County dairy
agent announced winners as
Pennsylvania Dairy Princess
Charlene Rohrer, on hand to
promote dairy products, handed
out all the awards.
Dairy management awards went
to Debbie Darlington, high scorer
and Anna Uhlman, first year for
Chester Valley; Theresa Tkaczuk,
high scorer and Lurleen Beiler,

Detter, son of Mr and Mrs.
Lome L. Detter, is a high school
senior and has applied for ad
mission to the Air Force Academy.
For the last four years the York
County youth has drawn his own
patterns for his wood science
projects. The hanging planters
netted him a cash profit, and a
hanging lamp turned out so well
that his 4-H leader asked for the
pattern so he could make one too.
The youth learned precision was
necessary in making fme wood
products. One type of planter he
built had frames surrounding the
planter pot and arranged in such a
manner that it was difficult to
construct.
