CATTLE: Through midweek,
slaughter steers' and heifers 75
cents to 1.25 higher, instances 1.50
higher but late downturn' in
dressed beef trade placed pressure
on live market. Cows closed I.OOTo
2.00 higher. Bulls steady.
Steer, heifer and cow prices
moved upward Tuesday, in
fluenced by snowstorm in trade
area. Much of the advance held
together Wednesday on local
receipts of 3700 head but dressed
trade moved lower late. Cow beet
worked lower during week. Steers
46 pet of estimated five day total,
heifers 27 pet. choice cattle in
liberal volume and yield grade
continues a major price factor.
Some cattle carried small to
moderate amounts of mud. Cows 5
pet; feeders 21 pet.
