Chester Co. lamb sale proves successful
WEST CHESTER The annual
Chester County 4-H Market Lamb
Show and Sale held at Vintage
Sales Stable on October 27 was a
huge success
Southeast National Bank of
Atglen was the buyer of the 120
pound Champion Cheviot cross
owner by Donna MacCauley of
Atglen. Southeast, represented by
Mrs. Cloud, paid $2.15 per pound
for the lamb, and then resold it at
the end of the sale to Vintage Sales
Stable for $1 per pound. The money
was then donated back to the
Golden Fleece 4-H Sheep Club of
Chester County.
Keith Bryan, Media, exhibited
the Reserve Grand Cahmpion, a
purebred 100 pound Dorset lamb
which was purchased by Ferranti
and URSO of Philadelphia for $.98
per pound.
The Lightweight Champion was
exhibited by Jeff Barom of
Downmgtown and was purchased
by Dowmngton National Bank for
$.92 per pound. The sale average
$.89 per pound with the champions
and $.Bl per pound without the
champions.
Buyers of the Champion and
Reserve Champion lambs were
presented trophies donated by

Eighteen lambs were shown
earlier that day at the farm of Bill
and Joan MacCauley.
Jim Janek, representative of the
Southeast Farm Credit Service,
West Chester, presented all weight
champions with hand shears
donated by Farm Credit. Bill
Fairbairn, from Genetics
Unlimited, Inc., West Grove, was
judge for the show.

foods. About $lB2 billion of that was
to get the food from the farm to the
table. The food was assembled,
inspected, graded, stored,
processed, packaged, wholesaled,
and retailed more than 400
million tons of it.
