SAN FRANCISCO, Ca. - The
quality of the 33 Charolais
exhibited here at this year’s Grand
National Livestock Expo gave
Penn State’s Herman Purdy a
number of options to consider as he
selected grand champions.
Charolais were the first breed
shown at the week-long Cow
Palace event which began October
24.
MF Independence added another
victory to his collection by being
named grand champion bull. The
summer senior yearling son of
Expectation 269 is owned by
Minute Man Farms, Yermgton,
Nev., and Lester Laue, Hanover,
Kan.
The call champion bull, GCR
White Lightmng A 393, a big
framed February son of GCR
Impressive G 560, was reserve
grand champion. He is owned by
Guggenberger and Edwards, San
Juan Bautista, Calif.
