report issued by the Joint
Agricultural Weather Facility of
the U.S. Departments ot Com
merce and Agriculture, in the
Southern Hemisphere, needed ram
fell on many crop areas.
Highlights of the report follow.

brought heavy rams and high
winds, damaging unharvested
soybeans and flooding some dams
and lowlands.
South America. Widespread
rams in Parana, Sao Paulo and
Minas Gerais benefited coffee in
the critical bloom period and
unproved soil moisture conditions

Rainfall was light in extreme
western Thailand and in the
northeastern portion of the
country.
South Africa. Early season rains
have provided generally favorable
soil moisture conditions for sowing
and emergence of the corn crop to
be planted in the next few weeks.
About 80 percent ot the annual
rainfall in the Orange Free State
and Transvaal, the major corn
producing regions, occurs between
October and March.
Northwestern Africa. Light ram
tell only in Morocco last week.
Delayed autumn rams are not a
problem yet since winter gram
sowing can be postponed as late as
December without substantial
yield declines.
