weanling filly class. Also in the
Futurities, a three-month-old colt
placed tilth out of 60 as a junior
weanling colt.
Since they sell 'their horses
privately, showing helps build
their reputation. Judy said Monte
Missile is getting a good reputation
as a sire through the shows.
She added, "We show practically
every weekend in a five-state area.
We usually show six to eight
head.” They begin the show circuit
in March and continue until fall.
The Felsmgers own 10 brood
mares, five weanlings, five
yearlings and two 2-year-old
quarter horses. They also board
horses and give private riding
lessons.
Judy explains that they try to
have their mares foal in January
so the animals are older for the
Futurities. "We use Monte up until
the first week of June,” she says.
Their animals are halter broken
soon after they are born and
weaned at about four months.
