A3B—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, October 24,1981 HARRISBURG Fair weather over much of the commonwealth during the week ending Oct. 19 gave farmers an average of five days suitable for field activities, according to the Pennsylvania Crop Reporting Service. Field activities during the week included spreading lime and fertilizer; planting' barley and wheat; plowing; and harvesting ensilage corn, corn for gram, soybeans, potatoes, apples and hay crops. Topsoil moisture statewide was rated 56 percent adequate, 37 percent short, and six percent surplus. In the northern region 83 percent rated soil moisture adequate and 17 percent surplus.
