LITITZ Because of the con
cern of members of the Boots and
Saddles 4-H Club, Lancaster
County’s therapeutic riding
program now has $550 to spend on
much needed special equipment
for the riders using the program.
At thetlub’s annual horse show,
opened this time to the general
public, members raised |350 m
class fees and refreshments. The
show was held at the farm of Mr.
and Mrs. Dan Fellenbaum, Utitz
R 3.
An additional $2OO was donated Winners in the day’s show were:

Chestnut Level and Dave Rintz, Mike Charles, 2. Team of Laurie
gave another $5O from the Circle T" McCoy and Missie Charles; Barrel

be used to purchase- additional
hats, safety belts, stirrups and
saddles to be used exclusively by
the program.
According to Rose Fellenbaum,
Boots and Saddles 4-H Club leader,
“We always give money to
something and for the past two
.years it has been the therapeutic
riding program. We have a lot of
members and a lot of parents who
help with the program, and they
really enjoy working with it.”
Normally the show is open just to
members and their families, Mrs.
Fellenbaum explained, but it was

FFA participated in the recent All-
American Dairy Show as com
petitors and tour guides.
Steve Wenger and Heidi Peiffer
placed 6th and 7th in the Holstein
dairy type show. Steve and his
senior yearling heifer also
received a Master Fitter ribbon.
Heidi and her junior 2 yr. old
received Master Fitter and Master

A trophy in memory of Vickie
Zipperlem was presented to the
family which accumulated the
most points throughout the day. It
was donated by Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Zipperlem, 2017 Landis
Valley Rd., Lancaster, in memory
of their daughter who was killed in
an accident involving a trailer. The
award was won by the Jim Charles
family, Columbia R 3. The family
also donated trophies which had
been won by Vickie as a 4-H’er to
the show.
Showman ribbons.
Other members were tour guides
for elementary children. These
members included Bob Fulk, Scott
Eckenrode, Dave Ludwig, Jere
Fuhrman, Brian Fulk, and Ann
Lansberry. The tours included
showing the youngsters milking
machines and how they wash the
animals. They were, even shown a
cow giving birth to a calf.
