given to a purebred Charolais steer
shown by another 14-year-old, Kirk
Fisher. Both exhibitors are ninth
graders - Rarick, the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Rarick, Reading
Rd., at Fleetwood, and Fisher, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Fisher,
Douglassville, at Oley.

it may have been, was very hard to
judge and picking the champions
was very difficult. After much
contemplation however the judge
chose a three-quarter Limousin
crossbred shown by 14-year-old
Kenianne Rarick as Champion

fitting competition. Kirk has been
showing steers for five years and
tried his skills in showing hogs for
the first time this show season.
Kirk was named reserve
champion fitter in the beef show
and also took champion
showmanship honors in swine
showing.
Champion Showman of the beef
show was Mike Strauss, Hamburg.
Nineteen-year-old Mike is a 1980
graduate of Hamburg Area High
School, now working in con
struction. This is his tenth year in
4-H showing.
