And our trio of nights wind up
with the baby beef show on
Thursday.
• Judge Henry Gruber, of A and B
Packing, Allentown, who is as
much a showman as the exhibitors,
kept the competition moving along
rather briskly.
He even had a helper to hand out
the ribbons. State Sec. of
Agriculture Penny Hallowed
dropped into the fair and stuck

Another sidelight to the beef
show centered on Pam Wenger,
daughter of State Hep. Noah
Wenger, who stood on the sidelines
with Secretary Hallowed.
But all in ad, it was “Herr" night
tor Barb, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Hobert Herr, HI, Narvon.
•‘We’re going to go right home
and call her at Penn State,” the
proud father explained.

Although it was Barb’s steer,
brother Chris has a half interest in
it and thus had a real stake in his
substitute showing.
There were a few other Rady
steers in the show, including the
reserve grand champ of Emily
' Weaver and that of Margaret Herr,
younger sister of Barb and Chris,
who showed to a Third in the light
heavies.
Barb’s grand champ was shown
earlier at the New Jersey Field
Days and finished second in its
class to the reserve champion.
Margaret’s was Angus champ at
New Jersey.
Now, it’s oil to the Keystone for
the Herr grand champ.
Gosh, I wonder how Barb did m
her biology final.
She could’t have done better
though than her steer some 150,
miles away beneath the lights at
Ephrata.
