“extremely impressed with the 2-
year-old class.” And he backed-up
his words with action by selecting
from that class both the Grand and
Reserve Champions of the
National Guernsey Show, Wed
nesday.
Wee Manor T.C. Lucky, a senior
2-year-old wore the Grand
Champion rosette home to Bushy
Park Farm in Wake Virginia. Due
to freshen in May to Tdestar, the
champ is sired by Wee Manor Top
Command and out of Leafy Lane
Dreams Lucky.
Keene went with the second
place 2-year-old for Reserve Grand
Champion. Keystone Big T. Jen
nifer was owned and exhibited by
John and Bonnie Ayars,
Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
The Reserve Champ is by Co Hill
Farms TH Big Tex and out of
Smlthside H Jewel, a cow a 15,328
record as a 5-year-old.
Keene selected Holcombs D F
Daisy as Junior Champion, owned
and exhibited by Robert Holcomb,
Greene, N.Y. The senior heifercalf
is by Housley Dari Favor and out
of Holcombs G Della.
Holcomb was later selected as
Premier Breeder and Exhibitor
after racking up almost a half
dozen blue and red ribbon winners
throughout the competition.
Holcomb’s entries contributed to
the top New York state herd which
placed first, ahead of Penn
sylvania, Maryland and Virginia.
Poverty Hollow Farm 'of Corfu,
N.Y., claimed the Reserve Junior
Champion with their senior
yearling heifer, Leaders Maverick
Betsy. Sired by Olympic View B
Maverick the New York heifer is
out of Leaders Prince Bell.
In his first major competition of
the season, Ger Mik Acres
Heather’s Brady, topped the bull
competition and was named Grand
Champion. The Telestar son, a
junior yearling, was owned and
exhibited by Glenn Mumaw,
Orrville, Ohio.
Pennsylvania breeders Ned and
Virgie McDonald, Imier, took
home Reserve Grand Champion
Bull honors with their senior
yearling Green Slopes Gardienas.
Brown Swiss
grosses $62,
HARRISBURG - The Penn
sylvania Brown Swiss Sale, held in
conjunction with the Pennsylvania
All-American Dairy Show, grossed
over $62,000 Monday, with 35
calves, bred heifers and cows
crossing the auction block.
“This was an excellent sale,”
according to show manager
Charles Itle. “The "sale average
was $1,723, up from last year’s
$1,350. The quality of the sale
animals was exceptional and
plenty of buyers were on'hand.”
Robert G. Hoffman of North
Leads, Maine, was the successful
bidder of the high selling cow, Jill
Jan Donna, at This three
year old that ranks in the top 50
cows in the United States for index
score was consigned by R-Hart
Farms of Wapakoneta, Ohio.

month of age. She milked 13,960
ponds of milk as a two-year-old.
A bred heifer. Alfalfa Acre
Talisman Ivy, claimed the second
high selling spot as bidding
stopped at $3,000. She sold to
Donald B. and Carol A. Trimble of
Peach Bottom. The heifer, who
was bred to “White Clouds Jason’s
Elegant,” was consigned by
Robert Hoffman of North Leads,
Maine.
Bruce A. Keener of West Salem,
Ohio, sold his “Very Good-07” cow
to George L. Bassler of Rock
Ridge, Maryland, for $2,900. The
cow, “Spring Hills Designs
Snooks,” recently freshened and is
milking 80 pounds per day.
