Robert S. Turner, of
Horseheads, N.Y.,
general manager of
American. Dairy
Association and Dairy
Council, Inc., Syracuse,
died Thursday, Sep
tember 17, in Syracuse.
Turner workecLat the
local, state and national
levels in milk promotion
for the past 20 years.
He served from 1967-
1979 as member of the
Board of Directors -of
the national American
Dairy Association,
serving as president of
the national ADA bet
ween 1970 and 1977.
Turner was a charter
member of the Board of
Directors of United
Dairy Industry
Association founded in
1971 to unite promotion,
research and nutrition
education for the dairy
industry.
He became general
manager of the
ADA&DC in 1977,
directing operations of
the fanner funded and
directed milk promotion
association serving the
22,000 dairy farmers in
New York, and parts of
New Jersey and Penn
sylvania.
He was past president
of the New York State
Association of
Agricultural Societies, a
member of the New
York State Fair Ad
visory Board, and also
member of the Grange,
the Farm Bureau, the
Kiwanis and the
Masons. Turner was
secretary of the
Chemung County Fair
and served on the
Horseheads School
Board.
