A total of 49 rams averaged $217 while 62 ewes averaged $l4O each. Paul H. Leader of York, York County, topped the entire sale at $7OO with his senior Suffolk ram lamb. The October, 1980 twin ram was sired by Reed Shepherd 55 out of an Oakland Farm’s dam. The ram sold to Penns Cave, Inc. of Centre Hall, Centre County. Seventeen Suffolk rams averaged $312. Two Dorsets rams topped the Dorset sale at $4OO each. The other top bidder at $4OO, was Robert L: Holmes, of Oxford, Chester County, purchasing a twin junior lamb from Penn State University. Nine Dorsets rams averaged $139 each. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Brubaker, Blu-Acre Farm of Lancaster consigned the top selling Hamp shire ram. The January, 1981 junior ram 'was purchased by Robert Fuller of Carmichaels, Greene County, for $2OO. Nine Hampshire rams averaged $319 each. In other ram breeds, three Shropslures averaged $92; three Southdowns averaged $3O; one KambouiUet brought $175; one Oxford sold for $133; while a Tunis and Montdale brought $3O and $3O, respectively. Carol McConnell ot Fredencktown, ' Washington County, was the top buyer ot the Dorset ewe sale, taking home six ewes for an average ot $202.50. The two high selling ewes ot the sale, at $3OO each, were purchased by McConnell from the Kenneth Staver family of Palmyra and Penn State University. Eighteen Dorset ewes averaged $177. Another high seller at $3OO was a Suffolk ewe sold to Kelly Mc- Connell and Bob Weaver, also ot Fredencktown. The ewe was consigned by Paul H. Leader of York. Twelve Suffolk ewes averaged $172. Four Shropshire ewes brought $125 each. Two of these were purchased by Hickory Hill Farms, Port Royal, Juniata County from Warm G. Menhennet of Cochranville, Chester County. Three Cheviot ewes sold by Calvert Farms of Spraggs, Greene County, averaging $7O.
