Young Farmer Institute at Hershey Dec . 5-9 HERSHEY The Pennsylvania Young Farmers Association will host' the 15th National Young Farmers Educational Institute at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center Dec. 5-9. “The theme of our 1981 Institute is - Yesterday’s Dreams, Today’s Realities, Tomorrow’s Future’’ explains Stan Wolf, chairman, of Rt. 1 Orrtanna. The institute program includes a Ml schedule of farm and ag industry tours, a Trade Show and informational workshops. s Three different tours have been arranged for the Young Farmers who will be attending the Institute from across the nation. - The Gettysburg tour will include visits to the Mason-Dixon Farms, the Gettysburg National Military Park and Battlefield and the Eisenhower National Historic Site. The tour to Lancaster will feature the Amish Homestead, the dairy farm of Earl and Evelyn ™ Landis, New Holland Sales Stables, Sperry New Holland, Earl and Grace Martin's beef finishing operation and the Sunny Craft Farm of Earl and Barb Stauffer. The Berks-Lebanon Tour in cludes Meadow Wood Farm of Cyrus and SalUe Bomberger, Bradford ATHENS The 3rd Annual 4-H Livestock Sale was held Monday, August 24, at the Valley Stockyards Inc., Athens. According to Orville Yoder, County Agent, 21 buyers paid a total of 16,494.98 for 32 4-H market animals. There were 3 steers, 12 market lambs-and 17 market hogs in the sale raised by 22 4-H livestock club members. The Grand Champion steer brought |1.03 per lb. and was bought by Leona Meat Plant, Charles Deback, Troy. The champion steer was owned by lisa Acampora, E. Canton 4-H.
