Seidel completes 4-H dairy
showman’s career in ‘grand’ style

KUTZTOWN - Helen Seidel, 19,
of Kutztown was rounding-out her
,4-H dairy showing days in fine
style as she competed in the 107th
Annual Kutztown Fair Dairy Show.
Her entries in the Holstein Show
placed first in senior calf, second
in senior two-year-olds, and first in
4-H four-year-olds.
The four-year-old, Adairland
Sue-Ellen was topped only by
another four-year-old entered by
Keith Buch, Fleetwood. This
competitor placed as grand
champion, with Helen’s cow taking
reserve grand champion of the 183
entries of the open show.
The grand champion was Ro-Ru
Happy Nodia sired by Harbocrest
Happy and out of Ro-Ru Paclamar.
The reserve champion, also named
grand champion of the 4-H show,
was sired by Round Oak Rag
Apple. Her dam was Adairland
Lucky. She has recorded 16,000
pounds milk and about 700 pounds
fat.
Helen also excelled in the Dairy
Fitting and Showmanship com
petition, placing third in
showmanship and first in fitting in
Kutztown crowns 4-H Colored Breed ‘queens’
KUTZTOWN
Dietrich, 13, of Hamburg led her
Patti Dreisbach, Hamburg, exhibited the grand champion
Jersey during the Kutztown Fair. The fifteen-year-old took the
top honors with her aged cow, Jersey Acres Q Rhoda.

her age classes. Not new to the
show ring by any means, Helen has
left her mark in the dairy showing
circles. Last year her entries came
away from the All-Pennsylvania
with two-year-old honors of the
Open Show and Junior All-
Pennsylvania Two-Year-old. She
earned an Honorable Mention at
the Junior All-American.
Helen keeps busy working at a
local animal hospital and helps out
at home after work and weekends.
She has twenty-five cows of her
own m the family’s 65 milking.

show last week during the annual
Kutztown Fair. Having shown tor
the past live years in 4-H, Christine
also had the tirst place in
termediate calf, senior two-year
old, and tour-year-old.
Another entry shown by this
young lady placed second in the
intermediate Call Class, and took
home blue ribbons tor Best Udder,
Produce ot Dam, and Dam and
Daughter classes. It was her tour
year-old that was named reserve
senior champion ot the show. Both
ot Christine’s champion cows were
sired by Oak Ridge Commander’s
Star and were out ot Miss Daisy
May.
Christopher Blatt, Robesoma,
showed the first place junior calf
and his brother James showed the
first place junior two-year-old.
Christopher’s junior calf was
named reserve grand champion of
the show. She was a March calf
sired by DeAy’s Hi Droplock out of
Hemdel £. Denise.
This year the Brown Swiss Show
of the Kutztown Fair could have
been renamed the “Scott
Hauseman Dairy Show.” Taking
all but the Junior Champion honors
of the show, this R 4 Boyertown
resident swept most of the blue
ribbons of the show, winning
Grand, Reserve Grand and

Helen Seidel, 19. wrapped up her 4-H dairy showmanship
career by taking the grand championship with her four-year
old, Adairland Sue Ellen. The Kutztown dairywoman went on
to show her four-year-old to the reserve grand championship
of the Open Holstein Show last week.
Fifteen-year-old Robert Hartz, Oley, is at the halter of his
brother Richard’s grand champion Guernsey.
