    Lebanon Fair crowns champion chickens
Charles R. Peters delicately holds his champion bantam, a
Red Old English game pullet. Peters keeps about 300 game
birds on his small farm near Jonestown. Of the 60 entries he
had at this year’s fair, he proudly reports he won 34 blues. 16
reds, 4 whites, 3 yellows, 25 greens: only one poor sole is
returning homeVibbonless. The reserve champion bantam is
the Single-comb Rhode Island Red hen shown by Ben Maurer,
Lebanon.

Adams showed 44 other exhibition birds and received 45 blue
ribbons. He raises the birds (250 at last count).on his father’s
farm, a hobby he started as a child. The reserve champion
large fowl was won by Behney and Miller, Myerstown with
their Light Brahma hen.
