Zi'fi £« Farm Bureau reviews gram situation DES PLAINES, D. - A con ference to review the current grain situation and marketing strategies has been scheduled for August 20 in Des Plaines by the American Farm Bureau Federation. Program for the one-day meeting is keyed primarily to the interests of grain producers and handlers with emphasis on national and international markets, transportation and storage, says Robert Delano, AFBF president, who will chair the sessions. The international significance of the grain trade will be analyzed by two key speakers Saturnine Zemborain, agricultural counselor of the Argentine Republic Em bassy, Washington, D.C., and Tom Hammer, deputy under-secretary for International affairs and commodity programs, U.S. Department of Agriculture. General marketing strategies will be discussed by Jim Gill, marketing specialist for the Illinois Agricultural Association, and Dean Brown, director of AFBF’s feed grains, soybeans and wheat department. Economic impact of proposed new farm program legislation will be the topic for Ross Korves, research economist for AFBF. Richard Briggs, vice,president of the Association of American Railroads, and John Jefferson, of the Indiana Farm Bureau Co-op Association, will handle grain transportation issues. A panel discussion moderated by Harold J. Hartley, director of AFBF’s commodity division, will look into the growing problem of gram warehouse and elevator bankruptcies. Panelists are Jerry Quick, attorney for Illinois Agricultural Association; Alvin Oliver, executive vice president, National Grain and Feed -Association; and Ray Lett, executive assistant to the secretary, USDA. All sessions of the conference are open.
