Cumberland County swine roundup scheduled
CARLISLE - The 1961 Cum
berland County 4-H swine roundup
and sale will be held on Tuesday,
August 18, at the Carlisle Livestock
Market. The show will start at 9:30
a.m. and the sale at 8:30 p.m.
Members will be judged on
fitting and showmanship, and a
champion will be selected in each
age category. A Grand and
Reserve Champion Market Hog
will also be selected. Ap
proximately 120 hogs will be sold at
auction that evening.

support the Cumberland County 4-
H Swine Roundup.
County plans swine sale
p.m. at the South Mountain
Fairgrounds near Arendtsville,
along route 234 west of Biglemlle.
Hie pigs will weigh between 160-
260 pounds. There will be 4 dif
ferent divisions: 1. Market Hog
Division 2. Barrow Division 3.
Open Gilt Division 4. Pen of 3
Division.
The 4-Her’s are also judged on
showmanship and fitting classes
with a separate division for Junior
and Semor.
Each member is required to fit
(clip their ears and tail) one of
their pigs. All pigs must be washed

H show of the year at the Silver
Star Saddle Club, here. The
