Fancy a favorite
summer
There is little that is more
refreshing on a hot summer day
than a cold, creamy, smooth bowl
of ice cream; so as inspired by our
recent weather, we are presenting
delicious ice cream recipes.
Kids from one to ninety-one
enjoy ice cream’s taste and moms
from ninety-one on down enjoy
giving this member of the dairy
group to their families.
Ice cream desserts can be plam
(something the kids can fix
themselves) or fancy (something
you’ll enjoy giving your family.
Try some of these fancy desserts
with your favorite toppings and
mixings.
Ice Cream Salad
2 pkg. lemon gelatin
11/2 c. hot water
1 can crushed pineapple
1 pint vanilla ice cream
1/2 c. walnuts
Mix gelatin in boiling water and
chill until it starts to set. Add
crushed pineapples and ice cream
and beat well and blend m walnuts.
Chill until firm.

Chocolate Milk Shake
3 c. coldimlk
1 pint vanilla ice cream
6 T. chocolate syrup
whipped cream
Place half the milk, half the ice
cream and choclate syrup in a
blender container; cover. Blend
until well combined. Add
remaining milk and ice cream;
blend until smooth. Place a dollop
of whipped cream on bottom of tall
chilled glasses. Pour m milk
shake; serve immediately.

ANSWER - Joyce Huber of Leonardtown, Md., sent us a recipe
for berry pancake syrup to pancakes or waffles. Find it
and Nancy Lort’s recipe for cream style corn at the end of Home
on the Range.

Southern Belle Sundaes
3 T. butter
1/3 c. brown sugar
6 frozen waffle sections
butter pecan ice cream
Combine butter and brown sugar
in a small bowl. Divide evenly and
spread over one side of waffles.
Place waffles on grill, buttered
side up; heat over slow coals 3 to 5
minutes, or until butter-sugar
mixture is melted (waffles may
also be heated on cookie sheet in
preheated 400 degree oven about 10
minutes). Serve topped with a
scoop of ice cream.
Frost Apple Drink
1 pint vanilla ice cream
1 quart apple juice
1/41. cinnamon
1/41. nutmeg
1 pint vanilla ice cream
cinnamon and nutmeg
Place 1 pint vanilla ice cream,
half the apple juice, and spices m
blender container; cover. Blend
until well combined. Add
remaining apple juice and blend
until smooth. Serve immediately in
tall chilled glasses topped with a
scoop of vanilla ice cream and a
dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Cinnamon Sundae Sprinkles
1/4 c. butter
1 c. graham cracker crumbs
2 T. sugar
1/21. cinnamon
Melt butter in a small saucepan.
Stir in crumbs, sugar and cin
namon. Cook, continue to stir for 5
minutes over medium heat. Cool to
room temperature before serving.
