applications in a single
envelope will be re
quired to affix add
itional postage when ap
plying to county treas
urers this fall.
Single applications
will continue to be
delivered "on a single
first-class postage
stamp, but such is not
the case when two or
more applications are
contained in the en
velope.
Two applications will
require two first class
stamps; similarly,
three applications will
require three first class
stamps, and so on. In
addition, the return
envelope (the one used
by the Game Com
mission or county
treasurers to respond to
the applicant) must also
have one, two, or more
first class stamps af
fixed depending upon
the number of licenses
or applications being
returned.
In announcing the new
requirement. Com
mission Executive
Director Glenn L.
Bowers was quick to
point out, “This is not a
decision of the Game
Commission, but
moreover is a
requirement of the U.S.
Pokal Service.
“According to their
law and regulations,
when there are multiple
applications going to a
single addressee, the
sender must attach first
class postage for each
application. This is a
federal law over which
we have no control.”
The Postal' Service
has advised the Game
Commission that en
velopes showing two or
more applications
contained inside will not
be delivered to the
Game Commission or
county treasurers
unless the proper
number of first class
stamps are affixed. The
envelopes would be
returned for insufficient
postage.
