peted in the Montgomery County
4-H Horse Judging Contest held
Monday, July 6 at the 4-H Center m
Lansdale.
In the Senior Division, York
County’s Lynette Brown captured
the high individual judge honor.
Connie Krusen, Bucks County
was second with Nancy Yarnall,
Chester Co., in third Berks County
members Jan Sechler and Jeff
Long captured the fourth and fifth
place positions respectively.
Top honors for excellence in Oral
Reasons went to Jan Sechler ot
Berks County, Lynette Brown,
York County, was second, followed
by Nancy Yarnall, Chester County,
Lancaster’s Gretchen Donar cap
tured fourth and Connie Krusen,
Bucks County, won fifth
At leadership conference
Two members of the Octorara FFA Chapter, William
Henley, left, and Larry Landis, are greeted by Susie Barrett,
of Vincent, Ohio, National Vice President of the Future
Farmers of America. The Octorara FFA’ers attended a
National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., which
included a visit to the office of Sen. John Heinz, of Penn
sylvania. Henley is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken E. Henley, of
Cochranville, and Landis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton
Landis, of Parkesburg.
In the team competition, Jeft
Long, Suzette Henry and Jan
Sechler from Berks County
garnered first place honors with
1050 points. A total of 1031 points
won second for the Bucks County
Team.
York County’s Kelly Troop,
Lynette Brown and Lisa Helder
captured the third place award
with 1013 points.
Members under 14 years ot age
judged in the Junior Division.
Among Juniors, Vicki Forcmo,
Montgomery, was first. Janet
Wheat, Lancaster, was second.
Lisa Rowlands, Berks, was third,
followed by Emmett Geesamar,
Berks, in fourth. York County’s
Denise Wilson won the fifth place
position.
