We Can Do The Job Now
LEBANON From July 13-17,
12 Mercer County 4-H’ers learned
about Lebanon County by living
with Lebanon 4-H families.
The 4-H’ers, ages 10-13, and their
chaperones arrived at the Lebanon
Area Fairgrounds on Monday, July
13. After a supper picmc, the ex
changees went home with their
host families to begin their adven
ture.
The mam purpose for the Junior
Exchange program,., says Gwen
Bowman, 4-H program assistant,
is to “give 4-H’ers a chance to meet
and learn how other 4-H’ers their
age live in another part of Penn
sylvania. The participants also
have a chance to travel, see other
parts of PA and make new
friends.”

H’ers spent the day with their host
families doing whatever the family
had planned. This was anything
from going to the pool, to baling
hay, to going on a picnic.
Wednesday was “Tour Day.” All
of the exchangees and hosts toured
Bomberger’s Bologna, Mid
dlecreek Wildlife Refugee, Corn
wall Furnace, and the Heliport
Area at Indiantown Gap Military
Reservation.
On Friday morning, the 4-H’ers
headed homeward with a lot of ex
citing things to tell their families
and friends.
The Junior Exchange program is
a two summer experience. Next
summer, Lebanon County Junior 4-
H’ers will travel to Mercer County
to see and learn about 4-H life m
western PA.
