The Haakonsen herd was assembled in 1980
with selections from some of the best local
herds. Careful attention was given to
pedigrees, cow families and the best A.I. sires
The foundation was laid for a great breeding
herd but Harry’s health forces this premature
dispersal. The Holstems came from such herds
as Westan Farms, Homer (presently the high
herd on Cortland County DHIA); Jerry-Dell
Farm, Dryden; Bud-Ranch Farm, Homer and
Cassondana Farm, Hartford. The Jerseys from
Bruce Dedrick, Dryden and Lawrence Perry,
Homer. Among the outstanding individuals
