We met out daughter and her
year-old son, who live in Seattle,
Washington, at the Philadelphia
Airport. Their planned vacation
had been postponed several weeks
due to her husband’s business
commitments.
About the only way that we could
pry little David from his mother
was to give him a tour of our farm.
He really enjoyed the animals with
the dog, kittens and cows at the top
of the list. A few new words were
added to his vocabulary due to his
new environment. I even brought
the old wooden wagon, that my
parents bought for me when 1 was
a small child, from the attic and
pulled him up our long lane.
When we drove our guests to
meet their relatives in New York
state, we surely picked a rainy
weekend. We had hoped to do some
fishing at Little Pine State Park
and did manage to do a bit one
afternoon. That is, we got started

together our new fishing poles and
figure out where the books, the
float and the sinkers should be
placed. We know that we have a lot
to learn but beginners luck was
with us and we caught six fish.
Then we drove to Bald Eagle
State Park and reserved a boat for
the next day. The trouble was that
the rain which started that night,
while we slept in an expensive
hotel, never stopped during the
whole next day. So we decided to
visit two homes that were listed in
a recreational guide from the Pa.

ces. What we found was that one
had never ever been opened to the
public and the other was only open
6 hours in a week on alternate
days.
Therefore, the only thing left to
do was to head for home, through
the steady rain, with at least a few
fish in our ice chest.
