Heifers steady. Cows 2.50-3.00

Four Day Receipts 9961, Last
Week 12,881, Year Ago 13,168.
Steers made up 47 pet. of week’s
receipts, heifers 35 pet.,' cows 10
pet., feeders 6 pet.
Despite sharp declines in the
dressed beef trade live ~ cattle
prices ranged only nominally
lower; as buyers forced to fill near
term slaughter needs from salable
receipts numbering 21 pet. fewer
than last week. The character of
the receipts remained consistent
with recent sessions, as 1050 lb.
and down steers and 950 lb. and
down heifers, carrying large
percentages of good grades,
present in increased numbers;
thus best demand again focused on
heavier choice offerings. Slaughter
cows were in good demand and
Lancaster Farming, Saturday, July 11,1981-Al3
enjoyed one of their sharpest run
ups in recent sessions.
