Stream damage in Clinton
Co. to be repaired
MILL HALL, Pa. - Officials of
the USDA Conservation Service
announced last Thursday that they
will immediately begin restoring
Clinton County streams damaged
by weekend storms.
SCS Deputy State Con
servationist William Hunt stated
the agency is prepared to provide
about $150,000 in funds to restore
streams to preflood and stable
conditions.
Planning teams arrived at the
SCS Mill Hall Field Office on
Tuesday morning to begin plan
ning the restoration and clearance
work. Area contractors are being
notified that bid openings will
-begin on Wednesday. Work must
begin within 48 hours of bid award
and all work must be completed in
30 days.
Planning teams will start their
efforts on Sugar Run, Little Sugar
Run, Plunkett Run, Brewery Run,
as well as streams in the vicinity of
the Mill Hall Chiropractic Center,
Bald Eagle Township Building,
and Canal Street in Flemington, -
reported Hunt.

under Section 216 of the 1950 Flood
Control Act. Work is limited to
those areas where there is an
immediate danger to life and
property.
SCS District Conservationist
Ellen Dietrich reported that other
teams are investigating reports of
damage on other streams in the
county. Dietrich added all work is
being done in cooperation with the
Clinton Conservation District.
