selected as the 1961 National
Distinguished Junior Members in
an annual competition sponsored
by the Holstein Association of
America.
Those selected for outstanding
achievements in the Holstein dairy
industry are Bonnie Bianchi,

Hasfurder, Eminence, Kentucky;

Eagle Farm in Gibbon, represents
a special kind of dairy success. In

developed a registered Holstein
herd by first dispersing a herd of
Brown Swiss, then buying and
selling grade Holsteins and finally,
establishing a registered herd
from seed stock of purebred
Holstein heifers. The present herd
numbers 46 milkers and 60 head of
young stock.

says, “We’ve been using artificial
insemination since the beginning
of our registered herd. I study the
sire performance sheets and help
to make the selection of bulls for
breeding the animals.’’
The young University of Min
nesota freshman believes it’s
important to look for individual
mating needs of every animal and
to try to match these with the
strengths of the sires.
Bonnie’s cow, Cerescd Leader
Shari, walked out of the showring
as Grand Champion of the Min
nesota State Holstein Jr. Show.
Later, the cow was nominated Jr.
All-American Aged cow.
Bonnie’s leadership qualities
have brought her distinction as
president of her local FFA
chapter, delegate to the national
FFA convention and chairman of a
FFA youth conference held in
Washington, O.C.
